Here at One and Only Dental, we often recommend implant retained dentures to our patients who are considering getting dentures fitted.
This is because they provide a much more comfortable experience than traditional dentures and can help maintain the health and structure of the jaw.
Unlike traditional dentures, implant-retained dentures use titanium screws implanted into your jawbone to hold your denture or dentures in place.
First, we have to implant the titanium screws into your jaw. We’ll then have to wait a few months for your jawbone to fully fuse with the implants. At this point, we can then apply the new prosthetics to the titanium ‘pegs’. We will fit you with temporary prosthetics in the meantime.
The whole treatment can take between four and seven months.
The titanium screws are designed to last for up to 15 years. Most dentures last for around seven years.
