As one of the most commonly administered dental restoration treatments, we provide fillings as part of our range of general dentistry treatments.
A filling is used to plug a hole in your tooth. Normally referred to as cavities or caries, these holes usually appear as a result of an injury, tooth decay, acid erosion, or possibly even abrasion from grinding your teeth.
Fillings are most often made of a metal amalgam or a composite. Amalgam fillings are the traditional kind with a silvery grey appearance that is usually made of a mixture of tin, copper, and silver. They’re extremely durable and often last for up to 40 years.
Composite fillings are made of plastic resin and look much more like natural teeth. We’re finding that these composite fillings are much more popular these days, as they fit in much more naturally with the rest of your teeth.
