A crown is like a cap that fits over the front of your tooth.
We most often fit crowns to teeth that have been chipped, damaged, or weakened and cannot be fixed by a filling.
A crown shouldn’t be noticeable at all. It should fit in seamlessly with the surrounding teeth and be matched to the shape and shade of your natural teeth.
Most crowns are made of either ceramic or metal. These days, most patients opt for ceramic crowns, which are made of highly durable, very natural-looking porcelain.
We most often fit a crown over two appointments here at One and Only Dental. At the first appointment, we’ll remove the weakened parts of the tooth and then take an impression.
This impression is then sent off to a lab technician who will custom-make your crown. When you return to the practice, we’ll fit your crown, and go through all of your aftercare needs and instructions with you.
