For some patients, aligners simply aren’t suitable and only braces will offer the treatment they need. But even so, here at One and Only Dental, we still believe your braces should be as unobtrusive as possible. That’s why we offer ceramic braces.
Ceramic braces work in the same way as traditional metal – or ‘train track’ – braces but they are made of a white ceramic material. This means they blend in much more naturally with your teeth and are far less noticeable than metal braces.
The experience of getting ceramic braces fitted is much the same as for traditional metal braces. We’ll first have to take an X-ray of your teeth and then take an impression of them in order to determine whether you’re a suitable candidate for ceramic braces.
If you are, then you’ll return to the practice to have them fitted. Once fitted, you’ll have to come back to us to have them tightened every so often. This is so that the braces continue to correctly realign your teeth as you wear them.
Once you’ve worn them for the required amount of time, and your teeth are in the position you desire, we’ll remove the braces. Then, we’ll polish your teeth so that they’re looking their great and brightest.
As with most teeth realignment treatments, it is strongly recommended that you wear a retainer – at least at night – after you’ve had your braces removed. This is to avoid having your teeth reposition themselves.
We will go through all your care needs with you when you get your braces fitted, but it’s important to continue keeping your teeth in great condition while wearing ceramic braces. Ceramic braces are also more likely to stain than metal braces, so you may want to avoid any food or beverages that could stain them.
